About Jennie
Growing up in a small town with horses, farms and 30,000 people in Brunei, Jennie wanted to study abroad. She chose NSW for opportunities in banking, law and finance.
One of Jennie’s highlights in NSW was a volunteering program to support high school students from low-income backgrounds in the community. As part of this program, Jennie taught students about the benefits of a tertiary education. Jennie was inspired by how Australian universities support students to balance their goals, priorities and responsibilities. Moving forward, Jennie wants to be a lawyer and help to diversify Australia’s legal system.
Jennie’s tips
“Get out of the city and visit NSW regions, because the natural landscape of NSW is so different to Asia. I recommend visiting Wagga Wagga and camping at the Warrumbungle National Park, because there are star gazing facilities there and you might wake up next to a kangaroo! Also, don’t be shy in expressing yourself – Australians are very accepting of different perspectives because it's so multicultural here.”
