Internships

An internship is a great way to experience the Australian workplace and build important connections in your future industry.

NSW Jobs Connect Industry Experience Program

Run as part of NSW Jobs Connect for International Students, our Industry Experience Program provides an opportunity for current NSW international students to improve their post-study employment prospects through industry placement. This work and study program connects international students directly with real world industry projects from employers who are enrolled in the NSW Jobs Connect for International Students program.

Students participating in this program will get practical experience working in NSW and make professional connections for their future careers.

The Study Australia Industry Experience two-week Program and NSW Jobs Connect Industry Experience four-week Program will open for the next intake in 2025.

How to find internships

1. Your education institution

Start by asking your education institution for advice. They can point you in the right direction and give you information about where other students in your course have interned before. Your lecturers and course coordinators may even have connections with local organisations that run internship programs or may have paid internships available.

2. Contact organisations directly

Visit the employment section of their website and email the relevant contact with an expression of interest, your cover letter and resume.

3. Internship and graduate job fairs

Keep an eye out for any internship and graduate job fairs that may be taking place at your educational institution and around NSW. Networking at events like this is a great way to secure an internship at a local company.
