Education Innovation

NSW is the home of education innovation

NSW is the home of education innovation, with 40% of Australia’s education technology (EdTech) industry headquartered in the state.

NSW is the home of education innovation, with 40% of Australia’s education technology (EdTech) companies based in the state. Under the NSW International Education Recovery Strategy, the NSW Government through Study NSW is working with industry and providers to leverage the state’s strengths and lead the tech-enabled recovery, growth, and diversification of the international education sector.

The pandemic has accelerated the transformation of the international education sector as evolving learner preferences, travel behaviour changes and innovations in EdTech challenge existing models of education delivery and engagement. With these changes come opportunities.

Study NSW is working with the state’s EdTech and international education sectors to maximise these opportunities by:

  1. Supporting and co-funding industry-led research and innovation to build market intelligence and help NSW education providers and businesses access new opportunities
  2. Strengthening the state’s education innovation ecosystem by facilitating partnerships between innovative businesses and education providers
  3. Taking NSW’s quality education and related services to new global markets through NSW Government export support programs, trade missions and resources.

Partner Projects

Each year Study NSW co-funds industry-led projects that foster innovation and address strategic priorities across the NSW international education sector. In 2022-23, Study NSW is working with English Australia and BONARD to identify opportunities to deploy EdTech and online learning in the English language education field.
