Tell us about your experience studying in NSW
I started studying in Australia in 2018 after I had just graduated from high school in China. If I compare myself at that time with who I am today, I think I have not only improved academically, but also experienced a truly independent life and way of thinking. Noticing this change in myself has made me more determined to study abroad, especially after my clinical placement in the hospital and having received recognition from the patient and nurses. For the past two years, I have had to put my studies in Australia on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I have never stopped traveling and studying in China. As a health worker, I became more aware of the importance of health to human beings, which inspired my enthusiasm for follow-up study. This sense of responsibility is also gradually cultivated during my study and life in Australia, which is as important to me as academic knowledge.

Making friends was my most memorable experience in Australia
What has been your favourite experience in NSW?
I think making friends was my most memorable experience in Australia. I still remember how nervous and excited I was when I came to Australia for the first time, facing the unknown life and environment. As I gradually became familiar with the language, culture and life here, I began to enjoy everything. I worked with students from different countries and participated in clinical placement, which made me feel that boundaries were gradually disappearing and gave me a sense of belonging. I also made some Chinese friends here. We have so many wonderful memories living together and travelling in Australia, and I am always inspired by talking to them. The relaxed living atmosphere and friendly relationship make me love learning in Australia even more.
What advice do you have for other international students?
Believe in yourself. Studying abroad is not as difficult as you might think. On the contrary, the life experience it gives you is a gift worth collecting. It will give you greater tolerance and the ability to think critically and the courage to face everything. It's true that studying in another country is full of uncertainty, but I think success means you have a heart for adventure. Don't be afraid, think of it as a journey.
