Tell us about your experience studying in NSW

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to complete my bachelors degree overseas. In my opinion, choosing Sydney was one of the best decisions I have made. It allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, grow and become more independent amongst a thriving city. I’ve learnt the importance of taking responsibility of my schedule in order to effectively balance the social and academic aspects of my life.

Currently, I am studying a primary and early childhood teaching degree at Macquarie University. Choosing this course in particular was important to me because it’s what I am most passionate about. What really stuck out for me was the strong emphasis NSW education providers place on the practical aspect of teaching, giving me the unique opportunity to apply my collated theoretical knowledge from classes within practical settings.

What has been your favourite experience in NSW?

Studying in this diverse community and living on campus allowed me to meet new people and make new friends with ease. I'm grateful to have met some of the most genuine, open-minded and kind people who I got to travel around different parts of NSW with. This gave me the chance to learn about the local culture first-hand and make some unforgettable memories.

What advice do you have for other international students?

My advice would be to take advantage of all that NSW has to offer. Immerse yourself into the culture and don't be afraid to explore new places because NSW has so many beautiful places to check out. I would recommend checking out the beaches and hiking trails.
