4

5

Check the visa requirements

Check that you have met all of the Australian Government's student visa requirements. Applying for a visa will be the next step on your journey to becoming an international student.

How your application is processed

It is important to note that each education institution assesses applications differently. You may be able to check the status of your application through an online applicant portal or by contacting the international admissions office of the educational institution.

Letter of Offer

If you have met all requirements or conditions set by your chosen institution, your application will be successful. Requirements and conditions may include paying your tuition fee or a deposit and providing proof of your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

Following this, you will receive a 'Letter of Offer' that you can choose to accept by signing and returning it to your selected education institution, either online or by mail.

Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment

When your education institution receives your signed ‘Letter of Offer’ with the completed required actions, you will then be sent an 'Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment' (eCoE) by email. This will outline your course start date, course duration, course fees and other important information.

Important note: You cannot be granted a student visa without an eCoE.

After you have formally accepted and confirmed your enrolment, you will receive an information package from your education institution. This will include information such as:

  • When to arrive
  • What to bring
  • Arrangements for your welcome
  • Accommodation options
  • Information about important events, such as orientation and enrolment

When do I apply for my student visa

Important note: To apply for a visa to study in Australia, you must first be enrolled in a full-time course.

Therefore, you should only apply for your student visa once you have been successfully accepted onto your chosen course and have received your Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE). Visit the Department of Home Affairs website for more details.

If you have any further questions about the application process, please contact your chosen education institution.

Then, you can start planning for your new life as an international student in the great state of New South Wales - Australia’s leading study destination!

We wish you the very best experience studying here.
