Scams Awareness Toolkit - Assets

Proudly funded by NSW Government through Study NSW

Providing content to raise awareness about scams and prevent fraudulent activities targeting international students.

Study NSW is proud to release the Scams Awareness Toolkit, developed as part of one of our 2020-21 Partner Projects.

More information about this project can be found here.

The Toolkit features 19 messages which have been co-designed with international students ready to be published online, through websites and social media.

A guide for when to use messages:

Message(s)Suggested PeriodRationale

Nov - Feb

May - Jul

These are the periods most students

would be looking for part-time or graduate roles.

2, 4, 7, 8, 9,

10, 11, 12, 13

These messages are relevant throughout the year.

It is good to space them out throughout the year for peers to share.

Nov - Jan

Jul - Sep

Post exam course completion period.

  5, 6  Jul - Nov

Tax Returns period and when these scams are most active.

  14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19

Jan - March

Jul - Aug

These are best conveyed around Orientation and Transition periods

at the beginning of students’ journeys.

However, it’s worth pairing up messages

and space out over a couple of months rather than all at once.
