What has been your favourite experience in NSW?
With mesmerising beaches on the east side of New South Wales, the breathtaking cliffs and mountains on the west side, stunning winters and blossoming spring, this state offers a lot of experiences for international students to explore beauty and nature. It often feels like a tailored state. I enjoyed skiing in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales at a place called Perisher Valley, walking through the Jenolan caves, taking a dive at Coogee and visiting the beauty of Hunter Valley. There are so many places to go and visit. My best experience was dolphin watching at Jervis Bay, not to mention the amazing drive through the little town of Berry. You can’t miss the renowned doughnut and coffee from Berry Donut Van.

What advice do you have for other international students?
It is important to find accurate information about New South Wales before you make the decision to leave your hometown. Do not just look at the beautiful pictures on social media. My advice is to do your homework, prepare yourself and plan well in advance before you come to New South Wales. There are so many things to catch up and learn so it is best to know some Australian culture online. You will also need to look for your accommodation and cost of living prior to your arrival. Once you arrive in Australia, time is precious, find ways to keep your primary focus on studies and get to know people from around the world.
What opportunities has studying in NSW given to you?
Sydney is a beautiful cosmopolitan city. Studying in New South Wales has shaped my future and filled my life with opportunities. I think NSW is a fantastic study destination for international students with high-quality teaching institutions. You will also find world cuisine restaurants and great beaches at your doorstep. NSW offers a range of libraries throughout the state; enabling a student-friendly environment to study in your own time. There are tons of opportunities for part-time jobs and internships for international students to help polish your people skills. Today I work for one of the leading manufacturing firms as a Logistics Officer, it is an opportunity for me to showcase myself as a product of a NSW institution that is adding value to international student’s professional development. I am committed to perform and lead the way for future NSW students at least within my industry.
As an international student, I had every opportunity to enjoy my time here by participating in extra-curricular activities. NSW Police regularly organises sports events such as Beach Soccer Tournaments at Coogee beach and Cricket Tournaments in Parramatta. There are regular events organised by universities and the state government to explore NSW, I recommend every student to take part in exploring the state. You never know, you might end up meeting your best friend here with lasting friendships.
