Fun facts about you
I am a Bollywood addict and love watching movies. My childhood crush is Brad Pitt and my favourite movie is Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I also enjoy cycling.
What has been your favourite experience in NSW?
My favourite experience in NSW is attending regional events in NSW. These include viewing the citrus sculptures at the Griffith Spring Festival and the aircraft showcase at the Temora Aviation Museum, attending Fiesta La Peel at Tamworth, Batlow’s Apple Cider Festival and the FUSION Multicultural Street Festival in Wagga Wagga.
What advice do you have for other international students?
My advice to all international student is to take pride in who you are - believe in yourself as everyone has their own individual identity. If you want to make the most out of your international experience, engage with your local community. You will make some great friends and won’t be as homesick or socially isolated. Understanding the local culture is important and volunteering is the best platform for this. Be vocal and put forward your opinions and views in a dignified way because the educational institutions, local council and other government and non-government organisations are here to support you in all ways possible.
What opportunities has studying in NSW given to you?
It has given me the opportunity to develop a connection with the local city council. I volunteer with some of the most passionate and dedicated organisations in NSW and the level of engagement I have with the stakeholders is fulfilling. I truly respect my local MPs, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors as well as Council staff for their continuous support.
Moreover, NSW is a culturally diverse, safe and family-friendly state which has provided me many travelling opportunities for my 8 year old daughter. She loves to visit the Opera House and Darling Harbour. She also had the opportunity to see the New Years Eve celebrations at one of Sydney’s vantage points which was a mesmerising experience. The beaches, zoos, local and regional attractions in NSW have placed it in the spotlight as the finest destination in Australia for international students to explore and have as their second home.
