What has been your favourite experience in NSW?

My favourite experience is mainly the study experience in NSW - Coming from a third world country, I have had to grapple with a new learning environment in my life. For example, I learnt to use technologies to assist with my studies. I use the internet and intranet to submit assignments and review lecture notes. I have studied, met and made countless friends from all over the world hence I am transformed into a multicultural individual. I have been able to argue my points on an international platform and also learn from others in the process. My working experience in Age Care and Disability has given me a chance to communicate with ageing Australians. All my clients are my friends who look forward to seeing me on my next visit. I have experienced love, generosity, openness and goodwill of the Australian people.

What advice do you have for other international students?

My advice to other international students is they need to be focused in their lives, be honest, hardworking and follow the law of the host country. As an international student, one primary objective is to study hard and achieve a good result. Being honest with yourself will help you set goals, reflect and improve your future. Abiding by the law will help you make the right choices and create a positive experience for yourself in NSW.

What opportunities has studying in NSW given to you?

Studying in NSW has given me a chance to study in a serene environment and a reputable university, with good facilities, excellent lecturers and a multicultural community. This has broadened my scope of thinking from the third world to a global world. It also gave me a chance to live in a friendly and safe neighbourhood providing a fantastic transportation network of rail and bus. As an international student, I have been able to find work easily with good pay and learnt to look after myself. While these opportunities have been combined, they have created a conducive atmosphere that has helped me to excel in studies as well as my life here in NSW.

I have truly enjoyed my studies in NSW and in particular my time at the Australian Catholic University. When I arrived in Australia, I was not very good at putting my ideas together, even using the internet is a challenge for me. I would like to thank my lecturers at ACU for their passion, dedication, patience and goodwill which has helped me to excel in my studies. It took me a while to adjust to my new life and new home and I have practised persistence, courage and determination in my course. I have achieved academic excellence and also become more independent.
