Tell us about your experience studying in NSW

My experience studying in NSW has really pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to grow personally and academically. The knowledge gained through studying medicine is truly invaluable and became very relevant during the pandemic. I enjoy the structure of the medical program at the University of Wollongong and I found it suited my learning style very well and is a place I can really excel. I am excited to expand my knowledge base as I continue in my degree. From a personal perspective studying in Australia has given me the opportunity to become more independent and confident. I am so excited to return and continue studying and taking more opportunities to learn and grow both inside and outside the classroom.

What has been your favourite experience in NSW?

The most enjoyable aspect of studying in NSW is the people. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The friends in my cohort introduced me to Australian life and culture. These friends played such an important role and support system while I was studying medicine online from Canada; I don’t know if I could have done it without them. I am so excited to get back to studying as much as I am the people I study with.

What advice do you have for other international students?

I say take the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself! While studying at university can feel overwhelming and you might feel like you have minimal time for extra curricular activities but it is the people around you who make your experience all that much better. Your friends will be there to help push you through the tough times and will be there to laugh and smile with you through the good. Take the opportunity to engage in campus loge, develop close friendships and explore the unique environment and culture Australia has to offer.
