Thank you to our Sydney Airport Welcome Desk Volunteers!

19 May 2016

This week we congratulated 75 amazing students who completed their 20 hours commitment to the Work Integrated Learning Program at the Sydney Airport Welcome Desk.

Many of the students attended the acknowledgement ceremony at Parliament House on Thursday 19 May, where they received a certificate from The Hon Stuart Ayres, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, and Minister for Sport.

We also acknowledged the efforts of nine team leaders who progressed to desk crew support roles and completed an additional 30 hours in the program. The ceremony was attended by education provider representatives as well as guest speaker, Sally Fielke, General Manager Corporate Affairs Sydney Airport.

The NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk is open 3 days a week to greet students arriving at Sydney International Airport.

The welcome desk is staffed by local and international student volunteers through a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program coordinated by StudyNSW. Volunteers greet students and offer orientation advice including maps and information about accommodation and transport. iPads on the desk also offer information and direct students to our website.

We thank our student volunteers who have been fully committed to making this initiative a great success.
