Student life

Why did you choose to study in this field?

I have a strong interest in advocating for a better future for the next generation and have been actively involved in supporting the welfare of international students ever since I arrived in Australia. Ultimately, I wanted to get involved in policymaking that creates the best study experience for students.

Why did you decide to study in NSW?

There are a lot of learning and leadership opportunities in Sydney that allow me to explore my interests outside the classroom. I'm also an outdoorsy person, and NSW has a lot of nice hikes and camping areas that I can enjoy on the weekends.

Tell us about your experience studying in NSW.

Studying in Sydney has been a great experience. I joined many clubs and societies back in my university days, volunteered at an international student body, and met many like-minded students. We shared similar study experiences and have now become lifelong friends.

Did you work or undertake projects with employers or industry groups during your studies? If yes, how did this experience benefit your career?

I enrolled in the Industry Placement Program organised by the University of Sydney. The program allowed me to work at a local firm to gain career experience and have a sneak peek of how professional life in Australia is like. During the program, I was assigned a mentor who generously shared his story on how to manage work-life balance and the challenges you would face in the early stages of your career. It was a fantastic experience, and I encourage everyone to join!

Career goals and advice

What are you doing now in your career?

Instead of pursuing a career to be a lawyer, I decided to become a marketing specialist. I'm now working at a media agency that looks after Google products, which means all the advertisements you see on television are done by my team!

Why did you decide to follow your chosen career path?

Marketing allows me to share my vision not only with ten but millions of people worldwide, and that is the most effective way to build a community and support each other. It's also a very fun industry that gives you a lot of life experiences, such as going to movie premieres and AFL finals.

Can you share any career advice for current students or graduates?
