NSW’s most outstanding international students have been named as finalists in the 2022 NSW International Student Awards.  The Awards also recognise the incredible contribution of the NSW international education sector.

Investment NSW interim CEO Katie Knight said the finalists reflect the significant contributions made by international students, educational providers, businesses and community groups across NSW.

“This year we’ve seen submissions from students spanning 17 nationalities along with initiatives from more than 20 NSW education providers, businesses and community groups, showcasing NSW’s strong position as a global education leader,” Ms Knight said.

“We are honoured to have such passionate and dedicated international students choosing to study in NSW and act as ambassadors for what our great state has to offer.

“We applaud the work of NSW providers, businesses, and community groups to support our international students in forging life-changing connections locally and around the globe.”

This year there are a total of 17 finalists for six awards to be presented across two groups:

  • The NSW International Student of the Year Awards - recognising the contribution made by individual students to both the international student community and the broader NSW community across four categories; Schools, English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), Vocational Education and Training (VET), and Higher Education.
  • NSW International Student Community Engagement Awards - recognising the contribution of education providers, businesses and community groups that support international students to connect with the community through programs and initiatives across two categories; Business and Community, and Education Providers.

Canley Vale High School year 12 student Nhat Minh (William) Nguyen is a finalist in the Schools category. He has been selected for his dedication to supporting peers in breaking down cultural barriers.

“Being a part of the International Student Awards broadens my horizon. I have no plan to slow down. My dream is to become a high school teacher and support many more overseas students who choose to make NSW home,” Mr Nguyen said.

Winners will be announced in person for the first time since 2020 at the NSW International Student Awards ceremony at Luna Park Sydney on Thursday 27 October 2022. The event will also be live streamed.
