NSW Education Expo Program
The NSW Education Expo was a three-day program in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 25 – 27 May 2023 involving 29 of the state’s leading education, ed-tech and student accommodation providers. The Study NSW-organised Expo will feature multiple events and activities with different target audiences to maximise engagement and explore potential in-market partnerships. The Expo will include:
Why Indonesia?
Indonesia’s economy is the largest in South-East Asia and the 16th largest in the world. Indonesia has a large youth population and growing middle class, driving increased demand for quality education.
Indonesian students see Australia as a study destination of choice, with over 20% of all Indonesians who study in higher education overseas choosing Australia (source: UNESCO). Indonesia is a critical market in South-East Asia for NSW’s international education sector, attracting enrolments in the schools, English language, vocational education and training (VET) and higher education sectors. In 2022, nearly 8,400 Indonesian students studied in NSW, comprising half of all Indonesian students in Australia. Indonesia was NSW’s sixth largest market for international students in 2022 (source: Australian Department of Education).
NSW’s quality education, employability, and student support create an opportunity to support Indonesia’s growing economy, youth population and demand for skills.
The NSW Government has expanded its international network, with Indonesia becoming the first country to have an in-market NSW representative dedicated to supporting international education. The NSW representative will continue to support NSW education providers to engage in Indonesia beyond the Expo.
