Investment NSW has partnered with businesses across the state to deliver 1,300 international student work experience placements that will provide businesses with global insights and research, whilst gearing students with a network for future career development.

Investment NSW CEO Amy Brown said the Study Australia Industry Experience Program offers authentic professional experience with Australian businesses, as well as the chance to expand skills and connections for our international students.

"Together with Austrade, we’ve partnered with NSW EdTech company Practera to create virtual work experience opportunities for students through a range of two-week, 25-hour online industry projects," Ms Brown said.

"The online nature of this program brings together students in NSW and around the world in small teams, providing a great way for offshore students to keep connected to Australia, create a sense of belonging and build new relationships in readiness for their return."

"An earlier pilot was extremely popular, so we are delighted to be able to expand the program to support 1,300 students to take part in this initiative."

Through the pilot, founder & CEO of Synapse Medical Services Margaret Faux worked with a student team to research the South Asian market.

"It was an absolute pleasure working with the team on this excellent initiative. We worked hard and fast, and had fun in the process," Ms Faux said.

"The project deliverable was not only of informational value to Synapse Medical Services, but we plan to implement the team’s evidence-based recommendations in the coming weeks."

On completion of the course, students and graduates will receive a digital certificate to share with professional networks and potential employers, for example via LinkedIn.

In addition to November dates now underway, the online program will also run in February and April 2022.
