Australian International Education Conference

During the 31st annual Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) held in Hobart, Tasmania and attended by 1,500 delegates working in the sector, StudyNSW and the NSW Police Force presented on the whole-of-government approach to supporting the safety and wellbeing of international students studying in NSW.

StudyNSW was set up by the NSW Government to promote international education in NSW, the State’s number one service export, with over 268,000 international student enrolments, contributing more than $8 billion annually to the NSW economy and over 46,000 jobs across the State.

2015 NSW International Student of the Year Dunya Alruhaimi also presented at AIEC on her experience of being an international student in regional NSW and her captivating story in establishing the StudyNSW-backed multi-award winning University of New England (UNE) International Hub, which supports international students and their families to settle in to the local community by providing various services including swimming and driving lessons. The Hub was recently awarded a $40,000 StudyNSW 2017/18 Partner Project grant to continue the program, attracting co-contributions from UNE and Bupa.

StudyNSW provided information about its programs and initiatives enhancing the experience of international students in NSW at its exhibitors booth during the conference.
